SIREV - ARVO
La Red de Patología Ocular del ISCIII (Oftared) ha impulsado la creación del “Capítulo español” en la Asociación para la investigación en visión y oftalmología (ARVO). El coordinador general de Oftared, José Carlos Pastor, ha sido elegido presidente de este “ capítulo español” de ARVO, que cuenta con el nombre de ARVO-Spain. La creación de esta entidad busca impulsar las ciencias de la visión en España, fomentar la investigación en este ámbito y promover la comunicación entre todos los investigadores que se dediquen a la oftalmología, tanto en el ámbito científico como en el básico.
Background
ARVO-Spain was established in August 2020, as a sub-group of ophthalmic and vision researchers of the Oftared-SIREV.
Oftared-SIREV was formed from the fusion of two organizations focused in research in visual sciences. Oftared is a thematic network of clinical and pre-clinical sites belonging to the Spanish National Government (National Institute of Health) with the purpose to stimulate the translation of applied research to the national health system and SIREV is a non-governmental organization oriented towards basic and applied research in ophthalmology and visual sciences.
Mission
To foster communication between eye researchers and to promote vision science in Spain.
Membership
Membership is open to individuals around the globe who are interested in eye and vision research in Spain. There are no membership dues.
Planned 2021 – 2022 activities
- Present basic research talks with ophthalmologists at national ophthalmology meetings about the benefits of research.
- Regional meeting will take place in June 2021.
- Travel grant opportunities for young. investigators to attend the virtual ARVO Annual Meeting: May 1 – 7, 2021
